Norman Rockwell was born in New York City on the 3rd of February, 1894. He spent his childhood drawing, enrolling at the New York School of Art, then doing his university degree at the National Academy of Design, where he studied under Thomas Fogarty and George Bridgman, an influence that is apparent in his art.
When his family moved to New Rochelle when he was 21, he came in contact with famous illustrators such as Leyendecker, J. C., and Howard Chandler Christy. He went on to set up a studio there with Clyde Forsyth. Rockwell saw success early in life, publishing several postcard illustrations when he was 16, and this trend continued throughout his life.
